Install Minecraft

This guide will explain how to install Minecraft Java.
A PC (Linux, MacOS or Windows) is required. For mobile and consoles, see the Bedrock guide.
If you already have a launcher, you can skip to the next page.

The launcher

Launchers are programs that allow users to install and play Minecraft. The official launcher (often called "vanilla launcher") is the most known, but also the ones with the least features. There are a lot of launcher out there that not only allow to install Minecraft but also have the functionality to install and manage mods, resourcepacks, shaders, worlds and more.

Prism Launcher is relatively one of the best launchers out there. It supports nearly all features you can think of, is open source and available for all platforms. The only caveat is it only supports Microsoft accounts, meaning you will have to pay in order to play Minecraft on it.

We support piracy and as such recommend PineconeMC (formerly ElyPrismLauncher), a fork of Prism Launcher that allows players to connect offline accounts (in other words, to play without having to pay Minecraft).

If you already have a paid account, you can still use it on PinecomeMC, but even Prism Launcher is alright in that case.

We highly recommend you pay for the game if you have the chance to, but if for any reason you prefer to crack it, go on.

Installing PineconeMC

  • Head to the latest release page.
  • At the bottom, you can find links for all the different versions of the launcher. Download the correct one for your computer:
  • Linux:
    • PineconeMC-Linux-x86_64.AppImage (AppImage, recommended)
    • PineconeMC-X.X.X.tar.gz (binary)
  • MacOS:
    • PineconeMC-macOS-X.X.X.dmg
  • Windows:
    • PineconeMC-Windows-MinGW-w64-Setup-X.X.X.exe (installer)
    • PineconeMC-Windows-MinGW-w64-Portable-X.X.X.zip (portable)
  • Start the launcher.
  • On the main page, click on the top right on "Account" -> "Manage Accounts..."
  • Add your account. If you payed for Minecraft, click on "Add Microsoft" and link your account. If you want to crack the game, click on "Add Offline" and pick a username.
  • Activate your account by clicking on the checkbox close to your username.
